The KHK MMA Pro Team travelled to Kuwait on 9th September to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in the International Gladiator Fighting Championship on Friday 11 September at the Alsafeer hotel of Bnaid Alqar.
Professional Fighter, Eldar Eldarov, of the KHK MMA Pro team was set to headline against American Tanner Saraceno, aka “The Hammer” at 77kg http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Eldar-Eldarov-79102
Two other athletes from KHK MMA Pro team, Hamza Alkooheji and Khabib Pro team, accompanied Eldarov.
Eldarov stated: “I look forward to achieving an honourable victory for the team and for the Kingdom of Bahrain in this tournament, especially since this is the first international outing of the team since its inauguration by His Highness Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.”
He explained how H. H. Shaikh Khalid’s well documented personal support and sponsorship has had a “positive impact on the hearts of the professional fight team”
The international Gladiator Fighting Championship commenced at 6:00 pm of Friday 11th, showcasing 16 competitors from 10 countries over 8 matches, for the event’s eighth edition which was sponsored by Wawan Protein Establishment Company.
The General Manager of Wawan Protein Establishment Company, Mr. Adel Allowaoan, outlined how the promotion’s goal is to promote a safe sporting culture of mixed martial arts in the region, in accordance with a legal framework compatible with the rules and regulations of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation.
The tournament saw a crowd turnout as well as the presence of masses of Bahraini mixed martial arts fans.
The end result for Eldarov was that he succeeding in breaking The Hammer, after he stopped him in the second round via a Choke that forced the American to submit.
On the subject of H. H. Shaikh Khalid’s impact on MMA in the region, GFC CEO Mr. Saleh Al–Sharif commented:
“His Highness has succeeded in translating the goals and aspirations to attract international sports to the Kingdom of Bahrain, which contributes significantly to supporting Bahrain on the international sports map.”
