IMMAF is to award the level of “black belt” to senior gold medallists at the 2018 IMMAF – WMMAA Unified World Championships of Amateur MMA, as the organisation launches the competitive route of its Talent Development Pathway.
Black belts will be awarded in the form of IMMAF exclusive wrist bands provided by mmabelt.store at the tournament’s closing Medals Ceremony on 17 November, at Khalifa Sports City Arena in Manama, Bahrain.
While the black belt can already be obtained through grading in MMA under IMMAF licensed coaches, IMMAF is proud to now also offer world champions the accolade based on their demonstration of skill through the Championship tournament circuit.
IMMAF Director of Development, Andrew Moshanov, said:
“The progress of an athlete in martial arts has been historically associated with his/her performance in tough competition against opposition of a similar skill level. The World Championships is an ultimate testing ground to prove one’s superiority and technical proficiency and therefore such a success deserves the highest recognition“
MMAbelt.store CEO Ghislain Bryks said:
“The vocation of the company MMA Belt is to promote the sport around the world. It is therefore a great honour for us to participate in the development of amateur MMA through the awarding of our IMMAF wrist bands to world champions, as well as through IMMAF’s educational pathway in which our bracelets symbolise the ranks of progression. This is a first step in the building future legacy for the sport.”
