IMMAF’s defending European Open Middleweight champion Rostem Akman secured victory to advance to the quarter-finals today, November 23, at the 2016 European Open Championships in Prague, Czech Republic.
Taking place at Prague’s Arena of Sparta, the Swedish amateur faced Italian opposition Danielle Dell’Otto. The 2015 champion secured takedowns in each round to implement a gameplan of heavy top control and remained in fresh physical condition as he progressed to the quarter finals via a Unanimous Decision victory.
Akman will now face Iceland’s Bjorn Thorleifsson on November 24. The Mjölnir MMA product dispatched of Czech fighter Premysl Kucerka in the opening round of their final-16 contest by forcing a swift TKO stoppage. Thorleifsson dropping Kucerka with a spinning back kick before ending the contest with a headkick that sent his opponent back to the canvas.
