The JMMAF (Japan MMA Federation), formerly JML, officially celebrated joining the IMMAF at the PANCRASE 267 event in Tokyo, Japan on May 31, 2015.
Yuki Nakai, Japanese MMA legend and founder of Paraestra Tokyo gym, Yoichi Suzuki, representative of Alive gym, Ryo Chonan, ex-UFC/PRIDE fighter representative of Tribe Tokyo MMA gym and other MMA gym owners attended the ceremony.
Masakazu Sakai, Chairman of JMMAF and CEO of PANCRASE, welcomed that Amateur MMA players can now follow a pathway to either become professional or to participate in IMMAF World Amateur Championships as a great step for developing the sport of MMA. He said that he looked forward to seeing a Japanese team compete in the 2015 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA at UFC® International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
