IMMAF President, Kerrith Brown, today thanked all participants of the recent 2016 IMMAF European Open Championships in Prague:
“On behalf of the IMMAF board, I would like to extend a huge thank you to all who took part in the 2016 European Open. This includes the athletes and coaches, whose efforts began long before the Championships, through national tryouts, training camps and fundraising. Each event we see the skill level increase and are pleased to welcome back familiar faces, alongside first-time teams and athletes. It was wonderful to see such honourable sporting spirit between competing teams, as Team Leaders stepped up to adopt and corner athletes from other nations where support was needed and national teams helped each other with translation and communications.
“A big thank you is also due to representatives of the host federation, the Czech MMA Association, and their army of volunteers and key staff, who worked hard to make the event a success.
“Within the IMMAF team, I would like to thank the officials led by Marc Goddard, the international Cutman collective led by Joe Clifford and Bob Plant, Giant TV headed by David Green, our partner MyNextMatch, all our staff and volunteers who travelled from far and wide to work tirelessly across the week. It was great to be able to welcome Ralph Cook, Ryan Brueggeman, Doug Burch and partners over from the USA. A most special thank you is due to volunteers Ben Crighton, Jaine Shah, Ryan Bassett and Shane Weaver, alongside Medical Officer Yoni Gottlieb, who worked miracles over the longest hours.
“Last but not least, the Championships would not have been possible without the support of our partners UFC, Green Hill, Phantom Athletics, Safe MMA, Extreme Sports Channel, Sporting Integrity, Broadreach Media and QwikAid.”
“We are looking forward to bringing the IMMAF family back together again for the proposed 2017 IMMAF European Open Championships in Bulgaria at the end of March, due to be announced as soon as soon as contractual details are officially finalised.”
