La Asociación Colombiana de Artes Marciales Mixtas (OCAMM) is set to host national qualifying championships on July 7, starting off the road to Bahrain and the 2018 IMMAF World Championships.
Since joining IMMAF in 2015, The Colombian Association of Mixed Martial Arts has been active in providing a national competition platform for amateur athletes and frequently adds to its yearly calendar of events. MMA academies and clubs across the nation are invited to register and be a part of OCAMM, the national body officially supported by COLDEPORTES, the Colombian government’s department for sport. This partnership has opened the door for significant development of MMA within the South American nation.
OCAMM most recently hosted outdoor amateur championships in the city of Cúcuta, and regional contests have reflected a bustling atmosphere. Last year’s IMMAF World Championships qualifying saw 8 Colombian athletes qualify for the national team, spanning 8 weight divisions from Women’s Strawweight to Men’s Middleweight.
The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation’s World Championships are set to return to Bahrain from 11 to 18 November 2018, and will again take place at Khalifa Sport City Arena in Isa Town, on the outskirts of Manama.
