Team Germany will be looking to assert its supremacy at the 2016 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA, especially in the women’s divisions where it has made it mark in previous events.

A nation that has been involved in IMMAF since the beginning, the German Mixed Martial Arts Federation started very strongly in 2014 with women’s Strawweight competitor Daniela Kortmann claiming Gold at the inaugural Worlds. Kortmann beat Lebanon’s Rachelle Abou Abdallah to win Germany’s first major IMMAF accolade. Since that match Kortmann has turned professional to in her first bout.

The standout member of the 2016 Germany National team is of course IMMAF World and European veteran Julia Dorny who holds two Bronze medals to her name. Since the age of 17, Dorny has become well versed in many forms of combat, from holding an extensive background in Judo as a black-belt to recently competing in the Sumo world championships in which she secured a Bronze medal for the German team

With two IMMAF competitions under her belt, Dorny will be looking to capitalise on her previous success to contend for an IMMAF medal once again.

Another fighter to look out for in the German squad is Markus Plodeck who is a well-known fan favourite on the German amateur scene. Training out of Arena Aschaffenbur, g the Middleweight fighter is regarded for his excellent wrestling ability and his tough grappling style which has allowed him to remain undefeated thus far as an amateur.

With one of the strongest looking squads in IMMAF history the German team aim to for their first Championships with multiple medal victories.
